Is Private school better than a public school

Is Private school better than a public school?
I am currently putting my kids in a private school(for preschool). I am planning on moving them to Public schools for KG. I have been getting some mixed reviews about it. some say kids get the most academically in private schools. Any inputs/comments?

I assume you're American which makes it harder because I don't know that much about American schooling, so I guess I'll just talk generally and hope it's relevent. In England, private school kids are hated by non-private school kids, mainly, because they think they're better than the rest of us, and private school kids hate non private school kids because they think they're better than us. At private school you get no social education. You get no preparation for the real world, where you meet people from all backgrounds everyday. You can nearly always tell a private school kid from a non private school kid - they walk different, talk different, look different, and have this air about them like the world has always bent over backwards to do their bidding and yet they aren't even aware or thankful. They are incredibly arrogant. At private school people are not accepted, they are bullied for being different in any way. If you're not in with the right people, wearing the right clothes, listening to the right music, having the right parties, going to right places, having the right parents, smoking the right crap and drinking too much you're labelled as Wrong. Private school kids I know are sexually active, drinking, smoking and doing drugs before us normal people even consider it, because they are told they can do no wrong. I know many people from both sorts of school, and I can tell you that at least where I live this is the absolute truth, and not too biased because my best friend is at a private school. State schools in England are now getting better academic results that private schools by record amounts. English universities are now discriminating against private school kids. No one likes a snob. No one likes a toff. Private school kids are snobs, even if they weren't before they went there. Please, please, please do the best thing for your kids' future. Send them to public school. To validate my points: I am 16, I have an IQ of 140, I am predicted 8 A*s and 2 As for GCSE and plan to read music at Oxford university. I have friends I'd trust with my life, a boyfriend who loves and respects me, and I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm not a fan of the class system, but my parents would be described as upper middle class, and we have a large but not extravagent income. Basically I'm a good person, I'm doing well, teachers use me as a role model. What has state school not done for me?

That totally depends on the school. You cannot generalize in that manner.

I go to a private school, and personally I don't think theres much point putting your children in at preschool stage - as there are many really good public schools which teach them the skills they need. However, I do think that the atmosphere in private schools (well in mine anyway) is great when it comes to secondary school, and that the teachers do everything they can to help us. But as others have said, it really does depend on the school, as I have many friends who go to public school, who are very clever.

I go to a private high school. It certainly is an advantage to go to a private high school because I get more attention from the teachers and we are very competitive when it comes to grades. The downside to it is that private school kids tend to be very sheltered.
