Does what high school you attending matter when it comes to applying for college

Does what high school you attending matter when it comes to applying for college?
The reason I ask for such a question is because when I look up high school reviews, at some good schools I can often find their information on what colleges their students get into, while others don't even mention it at all. So, does it mean you have to be in a good famous high school in order to get into a good college or famous college? Will there be high chances for students in good high schools or it doesn't really matter? Thanks in advance.

It is not what school you attend, it is how you did in high school that matters to good or famous(?) colleges. If you earned excellent grades, participated in a variety of extracurricular activites, did well on SAT's, and have good recommendations from teachers, then you should be able to get into some good colleges. Money is also important! You need to be able to afford to go to a good college; or be able to qualify for loans, grants, scholarships. What high school you went to is not as important as your rank in your graduating class. The better your grades are and the more extra curricular acitivties you were in the better. Some high schools like to brag and some don't about where their students go to for college.

No. The private schools want you to think it makes a difference but if you are an outstanding student it does not matter. Also, get in some community service and extra curricular activities. Colleges look for a well rounded student. I've seen children at a local public high school get into Harvard ahead of so-called "exclusive" private school students.

It doesn't make a bit of difference. What matters is what you did in high school and how well you did it. Obviously, your grades have to be good. You should have some extra-curricular activities and some community service as well.

It only makes a difference if you're going to a college in the same city you went to high school in. Really, the only thing is if you went to a college prep school, your GPA or rank will look a little better than if you got the same GPA or rank at a regular high school. Seriously, though, I wouldn't worry about it.
