Will I get in trouble for bringing "The Catcher and the Rye to school

Will I get in trouble for bringing "The Catcher and the Rye to school?
Okay I go to a Middle School in Pinellas County Florida. I am thinking about buying the book and reading it, and I'd think I would have to bring it to school because of all the reviews, it is suppose to be awesome. Sometimes the peoples and my school can be strict, but I dont want to have them call my parents from the office just because of a book. Please tell me what you think...

Lol at my middle school, (well i am out now cause we get out early here, so i am going to highschool now) i read books that contained books that swore a ton described gruesome scenes of murder and talked about sex and the teachers never cared, in fact some of them were in the library. i dont think that the teachers would care very much unless you read out loud or you are like advertising the innapropiate parts. i would bring it in and if the teachers have a problem just read it at home.

I have no idea. In my school, Grade 7-12, we did a project on it in english. I dont see why any one would ban it, its not that bad. Its a good book, though. You'd have to ask your teacher about that, and have your parents approve, if they're that strict.

I doubt it. Catcher in the Rye used to be a commonly banned book, but it's less controversial now. I remember kids reading "A Child Called It" in my 7th grade class, and that's pretty grizzly.

I highly doubt you will get in trouble. If you do, you should throw a fit. I read this in elementary school and never got in trouble for it.

If they are bothered by you bringing that book to school, find another school. You don't want that conservative of an educational system warping your young mind. It's a great book. Read it with pride and don't worry what anybody thinks.

Hmm. I don't know what the book is about, but I'd just say no to be safe. If your school is really strict it's probably not worth it to get in trouble. Just some honest advice :] But if your parents are okay with the book they can tell your principal that & you probably wouldn't get in trouble.

It's a classic of american literature. If you're reading it of your own accord, you should be praised, not punished. And it is a good book, read away!

If you bring in Catcher in the Rye and a Double Fantasy album and a MDC written on your forehead you might. The book is harmless.

I don't thin so, but don't take my word for it. It is mature and I wouldn't read it aloud in class or anything, but I remember that my middle school had it in it's library. Just say I am sorry if someone says it is inapropriate, act polite, and don't bring it again (make sure to make sure the adult mad at you knows you won't bring it again). I would bet you would be fine!
