Is Jones International University a good school

Is Jones International University a good school?
To those of you who have attended, or if you have known someone who has attended: Is JIU a good school? I am seriously considering obtaining my MEd from them, but I'd like to hear some reviews. Any firsthand information would be really appreciated. Please say WHY you think yes or no. Thank you.
Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers - 2007-11-03 11:29:56

Best Answer
JIU is a proprietary college and is marketing themselves as an "online university" - both of these is looked down upon in academia. UoPhoenix is an example in that group and their reputation is near the bottom of regionally accredited colleges. JIU is regionally accredited so they are legit. They also have classroom programs in place so that adds some to their credibility. They are hidden in the USNWR rankings as "International, specialized, and other institutions, unranked" which is the same as UoP and other similar schools. The tuition is much higher than several others in the same class or even better reputation for an MEd. Peru State College for example is much more cost effective.

schools that are driven by ideology, "Christian values" or anything other than academics are not considered "good schools." They might be great places for personal growth or value formation, but if the academics don't come first, forget it. You may ask about Catholic colleges such as Notre Dame or Boston College - they stress academics, with religious overtones. Not the otherway around. Choose what works for you, but know what you are choosing.

What school is best for becoming a horse trainer/Show riding?
I would like to become a horse trainer, breeder, and show horses. What school is best. I've already heard of Meredith Manor(I've heard mainly bad reviews on) and Black Hawk College(I really know nothing about).

tour of the school, get to know your classmates exercises, get to know your teacher, probably a little bit of review, nothing to be worried about.
2010-07-28 15:00:17

Answer 3
At my school they reviewed for the first two weeks of school, and on the first day you won't do much anyway. They just go over procedures, rules, and let you tour the school. Some teachers make you fill out a form about how they can reach your parents and all. Anyway, the first week is going to be really easy.
2010-07-28 15:24:41

Answer 4
it depends on the teacher all our teachers did some review except our math and science teachers who are the hardest. our math teacher said "usually you review at the beginning of the year right? well not this year you were supposed tho learn 5th grade things last year" but not so meanly as it seems reading it now. our science teacher barely told us where to sit he likes to get things done. all our other teachers were kind. remember every year they deal with kids coming into middle school and know how freaked they tend to be and they don't leave you totally clueless.

Answer 5
I'm still at my K-8 school going into the 8th grade come September, so I can tell you how my first week of 7th grade was. ^_^ Ok, the first day everyone got to their 1st period class (all the way to 9th period), all of the teachers were nice and they basically went over class rules and what topics and stuff would be taught. The teachers asked about our vacation and if we had anything to share with the rest of the students, then they gave us like 5-10 minutes to talk to each other because there were a few new kids in our grade level. By the second day the teachers were trying to get our names straight and they used seating charts(except for Science, S.S., and Italian teachers)and starting assigning lockers and textbooks. On the third day we starting reviewing subjects from 6th grade. If you have anymore questions feel free to send an email! ^__^

I hear that "Regency Beauty Institute" is a really bad school, is this true?
I keep reading online reviews from ex-students slamming against this particular school, saying that the teachers are rude and the atmosphere is very dirty and unprofessional! Is this true? Am I better off looking for another beauty school?

I don`t know about this particular institute but I have a little story to share! My cousin went through this and tried to decide where to go. She heard of all these bad experiences but she really wanted to check it out and when she did, at an open house, she found that it was a great place to be. Now, she`s graduating! So, my advice for you is to go and check it out for yourself.

How difficult is it to be a new mom and finishing a medical school degree

How difficult is it to be a new mom and finishing a medical school degree?
I had aimed on being a doctor in pathology and was just three class away from my MCAT and my reviews and I just learned that I am pregant and due next year. I want to continue school but everyone tells me that Im not going to be able to finish my goals now and I should just settle and be a PA. I want to have a great life and raise my child well and make sure we have a secure future, but im confused.

Never take your eyes off the prize. Don't let anybody dissuade you from pursuing your goal. You can do it--others have. Medical school isn't easy and having a young child doesn't make it any easier, but it doesn't make it that much harder, either. Things have a way of working out, so don't give up before you even start.

All Answers
Answer 1
What is stopping you from reaching your goals? You will never know unless you try. Continue your education for as long as you can, accept any assistance offered, and you just might make it. If you don't go for it you will surely never make it. Good luck to you

Answer 2
Why not consider abortion? If the "daddy" ain't around, and you have such high hopes, it's an option. Don't settle, as abortion is the option you should choose.

Answer 3
my mom did it, and i turned out fine ;)
2009-11-06 05:24:34

Answer 4
It will be incredibly difficult to study and have a newborn. I don't think you should have to give up your whole life because of one mistake, which you will most likely have to. This foetus inside you is but a cluster of cells. It can't think, it doesn't even know it exists at all. This isn't an easy decision, in fact its near impossible. If I was you, I would have an abortion. If you stop this now, you can have another child later and have every resource in existence for them because you will have a solid career. However that is just what I would do, you might be different to me. Your university will have counselors who can help you better. Good Luck.

How to create a free website for book reviews

I have a school project/ competition where I need to create a website. Everyone in my class got the same task and the best one will receive a price. I'd like to make a website similar to "rotten tomatoes" but with books, and gather reviews from critics and get a rating for the book in %. What's the best, free, way to complete for that task? It needs to have the ability to "search". All help would be appreciated :)

I think the best way to do this for free would be a blog! Try http://wordpress.com/ to sign up for a free blog. You can choose a theme and then start writing your reviews! There's a search function built in to most blogs and people are able to post their comments on each of your blog posts.

Hey, When I was applying to graduate school, American Graduate School of International Relations and Diplomacy in Paris was one of my choices! I am a student from the U.S. and wanted to obtain my Master's Degree abroad, thus choosing this university as a possiblity. They are an accredited university and respected university. In addition to this, you are able to obtian a dual Master's Degree, one for the U.S. and one for Europe, which is a hugh plus. The courses are taught in both English and French and I would recommend it to any student seeking to study in one of the world's greatest cities. I ultimately chose to attend the University of London, simply because of being able to study in Europe's largest city, London. Good luck with school!!

The Victorian International School of Sharjah — designed by Victorian firm Taylor Oppenheim Architects, run by a Victorian principal Rob Blachford and staffed by a team of Victorian teachers — opens in September. With classes taught in English, the school will cater for both local and expatriate children and will initially take students from kindergarten to year 9 before expanding into year 10 to 12 in 2008. Both the VCE and Victorian Essential Learning Standards will be offered at the coeducational school, which will eventually cater for 2600 students. For Maribyrnong College physical education and health teacher Erin Ripley the chance to work overseas while still teaching a familiar curriculum was an opportunity too good to miss.

What law books should I read to prepare for law school

What law books should I read to prepare for law school?
I would like to prepare for my first year in law school. I am looking to purchase books on torts, contracts, civil procedure, constitutional law, and criminal law. Any recommendations on which books to read? I've heard Gilbert's Law Reviews have good outlines, but is it easy to read and understand? Please advise.

Emanuel's is a good outline - I liked it better than Gilbert's. Examples & Explanations is also good. For class, you should get High Court Case Notes, which are keyed to your textbooks and summarizes each case in the book. You do not need to purchase any books on the above topics until you get your book list though. The books are very expensive and you do not want to get the wrong book. You should take it easy before heading to law school. Maybe read 1L or watch the Paper Chase. But, to begin reading textbooks is not something I would advise you do. You will be doing enough of that when school starts!!!!!

Insteat, im planning on enlisting in the Air Force and go to college that way. Although not good enough for the academy, my grades are still pretty proficient. I was wondering if good grades in high school would make any difference when I enlist?

There is also the afrotc "scholarship program" and "college program." While most "scholarship program" scholarships are awarded to students planning on technical majors, that is not the case with "college program" scholarships. Are your grades and SAT scores competitive for the "scholarship program": http://www.afrotc.com/scholarships/hsschol/eligibility.php It is also possible to prep for a year and then apply to the Academy: http://academic.nmmi.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=2&poid=8&bc=1 http://www.nmmi.edu/prep/faq.htm http://www.nmmi.edu/business/newcosts.htm http://www.nmmi.edu/FinancialAid/index.htm There is financial aid available for students with identified need, however a student must fill out the FAFSA by May 1 to have priority: http://www.nmmi.edu/FinancialAid/index.htm The college will make a financial award based on the information submitted. It is not uncommon for a very expensive private university to end up costing less out of pocket than a low cost public university. AFROTC is available at many junior colleges through cross town school agreements: http://airforcerotc.berkeley.edu/_crosstown-schools.htm [20 of the 36 cross town schools are junior colleges.] It is also possible to direct commission to the Air Force through USMMA: http://www.usmma.edu/military/usaf/index.htm http://www.usmma.edu/military/ Calculate regular military compensation at the link. I was a college admissions officer for 3 years. Although I've never heard of reviewing all applications from one school and then moving on to another school, it is also good to note that many admissions reps have clearly defined territories and are responsible for all the schools in a particular territory. This means that admissions officers are often quite familiar with the specifics of individual schools and can judge some things about the caliber of student applications on the basis of their class rank, gpa, and test scores within the specific school system the student belongs to.

Here's where you start: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1099212/ Production Companies * Imprint Entertainment * Maverick Films * Summit Entertainment * Temple Hill Entertainment * Twilight Productions Start Date: February 2008 Release Date: 21 November 2008 Production Co: Imprint Entertainment 100 Universal City Plaza Bungalow #7152 Universal City, CA 91608 USA Phn: 818-733-5410 info@Imprint-Ent.com Distributor: Summit Entertainment Santa Monica, CA: 1630 Stewart St. Ste. 120 Santa Monica, CA 90404 USA Phn: 310-309-8400 Fax: 310-828-4132 http://www.summit-ent.com/ You'll likely want to send a very nicely written email to Imprint Entertainment/Universal with your request. What likely will happen is that there may be a screening for "entertainment journalists" about a week prior to the premiere. A few days after that, on a weekend, the studio will host a "press junket" at a hotel where the "entertainment journalists" are invited to interview the key cast as well as the Director and Producers. You are not trying to contact any of the filmmakers to get access to the screening. Instead, you need to speak with someone in Universal marketing. Email and/or call (very very nicely!) until you reach the person who can tell you yes or no. Good luck! Brian Dzyak Cameraman/Author IATSE Local 600, SOC http://www.whatireallywanttodo.com
