What law books should I read to prepare for law school

What law books should I read to prepare for law school?
I would like to prepare for my first year in law school. I am looking to purchase books on torts, contracts, civil procedure, constitutional law, and criminal law. Any recommendations on which books to read? I've heard Gilbert's Law Reviews have good outlines, but is it easy to read and understand? Please advise.

Emanuel's is a good outline - I liked it better than Gilbert's. Examples & Explanations is also good. For class, you should get High Court Case Notes, which are keyed to your textbooks and summarizes each case in the book. You do not need to purchase any books on the above topics until you get your book list though. The books are very expensive and you do not want to get the wrong book. You should take it easy before heading to law school. Maybe read 1L or watch the Paper Chase. But, to begin reading textbooks is not something I would advise you do. You will be doing enough of that when school starts!!!!!

Would my high school grades have any benefit when I enlist in the Air Force

Would my high school grades have any benefit when I enlist in the Air Force?
My orginal plan was to apply and hopefully attend the air force academy in colorado. But after taking my sat's and reviewing my overall high school grades, ive accepted that it will not happen. Insteat, im planning on enlisting in the Air Force and go to college that way. Although not good enough for the academy, my grades are still pretty proficient. I was wondering if good grades in high school would make any difference when I enlist?

There is also the afrotc "scholarship program" and "college program." While most "scholarship program" scholarships are awarded to students planning on technical majors, that is not the case with "college program" scholarships. Are your grades and SAT scores competitive for the "scholarship program": http://www.afrotc.com/scholarships/hsschol/eligibility.php It is also possible to prep for a year and then apply to the Academy: http://academic.nmmi.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=2&poid=8&bc=1 http://www.nmmi.edu/prep/faq.htm http://www.nmmi.edu/business/newcosts.htm http://www.nmmi.edu/FinancialAid/index.htm There is financial aid available for students with identified need, however a student must fill out the FAFSA by May 1 to have priority: http://www.nmmi.edu/FinancialAid/index.htm The college will make a financial award based on the information submitted. It is not uncommon for a very expensive private university to end up costing less out of pocket than a low cost public university. AFROTC is available at many junior colleges through cross town school agreements: http://airforcerotc.berkeley.edu/_crosstown-schools.htm [20 of the 36 cross town schools are junior colleges.] It is also possible to direct commission to the Air Force through USMMA: http://www.usmma.edu/military/usaf/index.htm http://www.usmma.edu/military/ Calculate regular military compensation at the link. Location makes a significant difference due to the housing allowance(BAH.) Single Enlisted Sailors and Coasties ranking below E-5, Enlisted Marines and Soldiers ranking below E-7, Enlisted Airmen below E-4 live in the barracks and do not collect BAH: http://www.defenselink.mil/militarypay/mpcalcs/Calculators/RMC.aspx 2nd Lt( Army, Air Force, Marines) = Ensign(Navy, C.G.) = O-1. 1st Lt( Army, Air Force, Marines) = Lt JG(Navy, C.G.) = O-2. Captain( Army, Air Force, Marines)= Lt(Navy, C.G.) = O-3. Advancement to O-2 around the 18th month. Advancement to O-3 by about 42nd month Good Luck!

No, all they care about is that you have the diploma.

I think only college credits can give you any benefits. I'm joining the army and I'm going to promoted up one rank with that alone.

No, but learning more now will help with your ASVAB. It will also help when you enlist, if you want to do college while on active duty. Trust me, the more study now the easier it will be to study when you enlist.
